What is Sports Therapy?

Posted by upst-james on April 20, 2019

What is it?

Sports Massage Therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. Sports massage can be used pre-event to prepare the body for exercise or can be used post event to aid recovery. Many athletes use sports massage for maintenance and injury prevention.  A range of techniques are used, and each massage is tailored to the individual depending on areas of tension or tenderness. Sports massage stimulates the cardiovascular system by dilating blood vessels and increasing the circulation of blood around the body. In turn this delivers fresh oxygen and nutrients to the tissue and promotes the removal of waste products and toxins https://arabmenhealth.com/. Deep tissue massage is also used for the break down/realignment of adhesions and collagen fibres which can help to improve range of movement and decrease any muscle restrictions.
